What Offends You? S/O Taking The Lord's Name In Vain

Racial remarks top my list also. That will set me off fast! I am not easily offended by most other things.

Hmmm I guess in general it’s not anything specific, because I think pretty much everything can be done out of ignorance or without malicious intent, and then I’m not likely to be offended but will definitely take the opportunity to educate said offender. I guess what I find MOST offensive are any dehumanizing remarks. That’s pretty general – it really depends on tone and intent, I guess.

I won’t say “offended” by this, just extremely irritated: when someone asks a question on this site and it just requires a simple answer and people feel the need to respond with information that was in no way asked for (and is basically just their personal opinion) or they “bash” the poster in a really nasty way because they do not agree with them. Now, if the poster asked for “opinions” then this doesn’t apply.

Things in every day life that offend me: racial remarks, people who answer their cell phones when they are with me without excusing themselves first (or ask if I mind if they take the call), treating others with disrepect.

Very little.

I guess the only thing would be a direct attack. Like, “Misty, you are a crappy mother”. Blanket statements just don’t bug me. Well, OK, they annoy me because they show that the speaker is not informed and I do get annoyed by stupid people. But offended? No.

Exactly how I feel…

Aw, everything offends me! Okay, seriously though, I am total freedom of speech myself and we take a chance in whatever we post at being offensive or misconstrued due to other’s interpretations. I just made a joke in my opening, and may have offended the sensitive people. What gives me relief is that I can shut the computer off or go to a different thread. If the kitchen is too hot, I get out of it!

IMO-What really bothers me is that people who have to be “always right” and “know everything”

We are never going to change people or try to get them to “come around”. Alot of the time it is wasted breath IRL and wasted typing online.

I don’t post or express too much of my personal opinion because people aren’t going to change my thoughts. While I am enlightened some of the time, some threads I take with a grain of salt.

Well, telling me that you knit instead of crocheting is very offensive. And, NO, I will not get over it-LOL!

I tend to be sensitive. My meter, though, varies depending on my relationship with the person.

So, for instance, if my mother said, “I don’t like your hair like that,” I would probably have my feelings hurt. And if she made a negative comment about my parenting skills, I would be crestfallen. I’m not talking about advice . . . it would be like, “You really don’t measure up . . .”

But, if someone I barely know said, “You are really failing your kids by allowing them to play football,” I’d be like, “Eh, okay.”

My meter trips, regardless, with negative comments about people’s appearance that they can’t (or sort-of can’t) help. I’d rather be called a “btch” any day over being called a fat a^@.

I tend to be pretty sensitive when people are critical of nurses and doctors. Guess I feel the need to stick up for my professional peers! :)
