My hubby told me that there are apartments on shelby (near county line) that are based on your income. unsure of the name…..Community something? I do not know much about them, other than they are larger and rent based on income. Good luck

Thanks, I have actually called them, they were one of the cheaper/nicer ones. I will keep them in mind. It is Community Place I think. :)
Most apartments on southside are more than $650 a month. I have a friend who is in one that goes by income (she makes about $18,000 a year) and she has to pay $750.00 a month on southside. You may try going Southwest. You may have more luck on that side of town and it is not a bad area!
I live at the Latitudes Apt. and it’s literally on the south side…..right on County Line. They are really nice apartments but it may be out of your price range though…..

Thank you I have looked at those, but they are out of my price range. Yes they are nice. Were they easy to get into? Thanks!
My apartment complex, Trotters Point, is right off of main street in greenwood a little east of 65. They have a phase 2 section which is based off of your income. They are almost brand new apartments, VERY NICE, with a porch and patio access. My two bedroom 2 bath, almost 1000 square foot apartment is $599.00 a month, based on my income alone. The only other bill I have is electricity. Basic cable is included. Have you tried applying for Section 8 in Johnson County? I am not on it myself, but I know people in the Phase 2 who are, whose rent goes as low as $300.00. Hope this helps!

It was easy for us because we were living in Lafayette but had to move to Indy due to DH’s job. Edward Rose (Property Managment) had apartments in Indy so we just transferred our lease to the new apartment. The rent is double what we were paying in Lafayette but way nicer and mucher quieter! Good Luck with the apartment hunting, the south side is quiet and nice!

Can anyone help? I am looking to move in Sept when my lease is up. I do not live in the best area right now. I am starting school on the south side and want to look for an affordable 3 bedroom apt. I have 3 kids and this would be the minimum. The issue is that I have an old eviction on my credit report, and I am afraid this may hurt me. I rent a 3 bdrm house now on the west side. The property management was willing to approve me considering the eviction was somewhat old. I know not eveyone is that forgiving though. Yes they did pull my credit. I just do not want the maintanance of a house and all the utility bills that come with it. I am trying to make a wise decision. Does anyone have any advice where I could look into? Tried to find some low income apts, but seems there is always a waiting list. Willing to pay around $650 at the most. Thanks!!! New to Indymoms…my first post…woo hoo:)
