Maybe someone here can tell me what is going on with my health. I have been fairly healthy my whole life. I recently have been having weird symptoms. The ones that have been coming and going are: headachs, upset stomach and pain in my back. The ones that have stayed are: tiredness and a nasty metal taste in my mouth.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be? It’s driving me nutty.

No idea, but have you tried looking up your symptoms on Mayo Clinic’s website? I would start with the metallic taste in your mouth, then go from there.

I would also suggest scheduling an appointment with your PCP!

Not a “doc”, but the metallic taste in the mouth gave me a hint:

Symptoms of Lead Poisoning The problem with lead poisoning is that all of the symptoms can be caused by other conditions. While that’s true for many things, lead poisoning is more of a chronic problem (compared to, say, food poisoning) unless there is a drastic amount of lead involved. NIEHS suggests testing for lead poisoning if some or all of the following symptoms have not gone away and no other cause can be found: headaches muscle and joint weakness or pain excessive tiredness or lethargy behavioral problems or irritability difficulty concentrating loss of appetite metallic taste in the mouth abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting constipation Source: http://firstaid.about.com/od/poisons/qt/07...

The metallic taste, headache, tiredness, and upset stomach can be signs of developing migraines. The back pain? Poor posture???

I second calling your doctor.

Celiac Sprue goes undiagnosed in a lot of people (about 8 of 10 who have it)... many of those symptoms match what you are experiencing.

Hmmm…I did a Google on “symptom metallic taste” and it came up with various sites…maybe try some of those?

I have been trying a few of these suggestions. So far, nothing that fits all symptoms and/or situations leading up to the symptoms. I will keep trying though. I thank all of you.

OH NO! I found a site that says the metalic taste is a sign of pregnancy! Come to think of it, I noticed (tmi for those who don’t want to hear this) my nipples are tender (never before, execpt when I started bf’ing my daughter who’s now 5) and my cycle is 8 days late.

The other possibility is scumbrotoxic poisioning (sp?). I ate a fish sandwhich at a Mc’Ds in Montocello last week. The taste started the next day followed by the other symptoms I listed to begin with. I will have to make an appointment with my doc either way.

I was gonna ask if there was a chance you could be pregnant.

I had the metal mouth thing with my second pregnancy, it was weird and nasty at the same time!

I would take a pregnancy test for sure! Good luck!

I will when I get paid Monday. Unfortunatly, my van has a flat tire that won’t hold air. I already know the problem is the rim. The tire is about 6 weeks old. The rim is as old as the van. I have to wait for my check in order to fix my van in order to go get a test (that I don’t have the money for at the moment anyway). So, it’s a catch 22 for the moment.

Well, I don’t think this is one for the “mom-docs”. I’d suggest talking to a real doc!
