Um nope… I would be super pissed too… I mean she knew they were there, why didn’t she tell you there was a problem and let you decide if DD went there
"RE: Am I wrong? (long) Um nope… I would be super pissed too… I mean she knew they were there, why..."
That was my thought too! And if she knew she had them, why in the world would she let DD sleep ON THE FLOOR?!
I don’t think you are wrong for being upset, I would be too.
I wonder though, maybe your friend is “not speaking to you” because she’s embarassed and not because she’s mad at you?!
Obviously she doesn’t really care all too much about her pets either. I would be super PO’d!
KarrieNo, you aren’t wrong. I wouldn’t let my child back in their house, let alone go to a party there. Doesn’t she realize she is infested with fleas. She needs to have her pets dipped and the house fumagated by a professional.

That is disgusting. If your DD is getting bites just from being there for one day, imagine what her family must be going through. If my pets had an infestation that severe, I would not rest until it was cleared up. She needs to give them all flea baths and sprinkle the powder all over her house and treat all the furniture and start giving the animals regular doses of Frontline or something. If she can’t handle it, she needs to take them to the vet.
did you call her and say you weren’t coming? I think it’s reasonable for you to not have gone considering your daughter probably wasn’t looking forward to getting bitten more!
BTW I’m with you – we always had dogs and cats growing up and our chihuahua was the one who seemed to get fleas in the summer, but we treated it right away and never had them run rampant!

Thanks ladies. I’m glad I’m not overreacting.
And Sheri, I let her know earlier in the day that we probably wouldn’t be there, and she sent a text back that said, “See you in a bit!”.
She has kids too, so I’m sure they are eaten too. I agree that if she ca’t care for 3 INSIDE pets, she doesn’t need them.
That is so grose. She could be embarresed and not mad. But I would call and tell her we couldn’t come to the party b/c dd was in pain and I was upset at the sitution. I don’t think it is worth losing a friend. And I must say can you imagine how many bites her family has. We had a stray cat once have kitten in my garage. I let them come in. I bought the mama a fle collar just b/c she liked being out side. I saw one fle once. I had two dogs of my own. Everyone that night got a fle bath. I must say that was an experience. Along with the baths. I washed every blanket in the house and anything that had been on the floor or couch and sprinkled flea poweder all over every inch of carpet.
Maybe she is embarrased. But, what do I say to her? “Yeah, DD’s bites are all crusted over, but she itches them back open. How are you?”

Last Friday night a friend of mine kept DD overnight. I picked her up Saturday on my way in to the office. While we were at my office, she kept digging at her head. I called her over to my desk so I could look. What do I find? FLEAS! IN HER HAIR! So, I pick them out and squish them.
As soon as we got home, I threw her in the tub and soaked her in flea and tick shampoo. A few more came out in the water. Then I started really looking at her, and she had been eaten alive! Her chest and back were covered, and there were bites up in her hairline and all around her ears.
So, I went to Kroger and got Benadryl and calomine and covered her in it. Saturday was a rough night, because she kept wanting to itch, so neither of us got much sleep.
I text my friend and told her, and she was apologetic. She has a dog and 2 cats, but can’t seem to get rid of the fleas. I told her I’ve had dogs for 4 years now, and knock on wood, haven’t had any. I grew up with dogs too, and I remember 2 instances where we would see a flea and immediatley treat, so it never got out of hand.
Anyway, so then Sunday, she was having a party for her DH, and after not sleeping much and still being pissed off, we didn’t go. We stayed home and I kept medicating DD, and did homework.
Now here we are, almost a week later, and SHE refuses to talk to ME! Am I wrong for being mad that my DD was INFESTED with FLEAS?!
