Can anyone help? I am looking to move in Sept when my lease is up. I do not live in the best area right now. I am starting school on the south side and want to look for an affordable 3 bedroom apt. I have 3 kids and this would be the minimum. The issue is that I have an old eviction on my credit report, and I am afraid this may hurt me. I rent a 3 bdrm house now on the west side. The property management was willing to approve me considering the eviction was somewhat old. I know not eveyone is that forgiving though. Yes they did pull my credit. I just do not want the maintanance of a house and all the utility bills that come with it. I am trying to make a wise decision. Does anyone have any advice where I could look into? Tried to find some low income apts, but seems there is always a waiting list. Willing to pay around $650 at the most. Thanks!!! New to Indymoms…my first post…woo hoo:)

You’d have to compromise to a 2 bedroom, but I live at Brickenwood, and they are renting 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath, 1 car garage duplexes for $635/mo. It is 950 sq feet. PM me if you would like their ph#.

They do have a few 3 bd units, but they are $725.

Sure, I may be open to 725, it would have to be big enough.

Im looking for the same thing, I have issues getting into many apartments right now due to my divorce and the credit. I am renting in an apartment right now, but just found out my neighbor was murdered, so I think i will be moving very soon! So if you find something thats decently priced, let me know.

My mom has lived in Regency Park South for 37 years. I grew up there and my DH and I lived there before we got married. At the time (early ‘90’s), it wasn’t too bad, but my mom doesn’t like the “way it’s going (um, I guess that means downhill).” But there isn’t much crime and the apartments aren’t falling apart or anything. AND DH and I had a large 2 bedroom for $380 (in the late ‘90’s). They are super cheap. They are trying to sell them though, so I don’t know that they’ll be making a lot of changes. They seem to be super lenient on credit too.

But remember if there is a place you really like, you should haggle on the price (seriously, I haggle everywhere). But they would rather have occupancy at a lower monthly rate than empty apartments. You can always ask!!

Valle Vista Apartments on Main Street in Greenwood have a sign out that they have 2 bedrooms for $650. I have not looked in them, but they look decent from the exterior.

I used to live in the Valle Vista Armes off Smith Valley and they have that deal going. Nice apartment, but no closes space.

Phone # is 783-7720. Brickenwood is located on Hanna Avenue just past Keystone across from Lake Piedmont Apartments (used to be Nantucket Cove). The 2 bd 1 1/2 bath (950 sq ft) is $635/mo and the 3 bd 2 full bath (1100 sq ft) is $725. The neighborhood is mostly older working folks, with a few young couples mixed in. Besides my 20 month old, there is a 3 yr. old on my street and a few older kids (I think around 7-10 yrs) that live in the front of the neighborhood.

Martinique Terrace on 31 between Banta and Southport has HUGE 3 brs. We lived there in the early 90’s and they were very nice.
