Anyone have their tubes tied??

DH and I have decided that we are done having kids. So, I’m wondering, should I get my tubes tied? Everyone so far says “You’ll regret it” but I don’t see how I’ll regret it if I know that I’m done having children. So, how is the whole process of a tubal ligation? What is the surgery like? Will I get scars? Does it change anything about you?? What is the recovery time? Will it interfere with BFing?

We just know that we don’t want anymore kids and we both would be unhappy with an unplanned pregnancy. With both our children we planned them, and we’re ECSTATIC when we found out we were pregnant, my worry is that if I got pregnant accidentally we would be upset, and I don’t want that to happen.

Any advice?

Just to let you know they are very hard to get approved for. We also are pretty sure we’re done having kids but since we are under 25, they refuse to do a permanent fix.

I had mine done when the boys were 6 months old. I was breastfeeding and just pumped and dumped after the surgery for a certain amount of time (I’m thinking maybe 8 hours). This is a personal decision and you have to do what is in the best interest of your family. Will send you a PM.

If this is what you want then I say go for it. I had mine done after our third daughter was born 3 yrs ago. My periods are heavier and more cramping than before. I can tell every month when I am going to ovulate. More than before. And yes I still have thoughts about wanting another one, but I know I can’t.

GOt mine done30 min I think fter the baby was born so I could keep the epidural..they cut me as I watched..I wasn’t freaked out-well I was at first- though Id feel it- but didnt and then went to sleep later- it hurt a tiny bit- it made using the restroom a bit harder- because if you wanted to go even pee it hurt- it felt like I was pushing on my cut- but it didnt hurt bad enough to cry or anything-and I couldnt hold the baby too much the first couple of days because I was pretty sore- and yes I held him while sitting but not standing..anyways..I now have a small scar..it lines with the inside of my belly button so nothing to visible. And it does not hurt your nursing- I am still nursing..and hmm..I think I answered all your questions…good luck! YOu will experience irregular bleeding for a while- I bled a little longer than usual, but eventually it went away..and nothing since!

I now how you feel. I do regret mine too. I’m having Dr. Levin in Kentucky do mine this Feb of 09.

I agree with those who say dh should get a V instead of you. Besides, you went thru the 40 weeks of carrying how many children…plus labor and delivery! IMO, the men need to man up a little.

on a side note…when my husband complains about the over 40 physical (prostate check) I remind him that girls get up close and personal with their GYNs from the time they are teens – and it ain’t fun!

Oh, and, I doubt you’d be upset for long if you got pregnant. baby’s are the best!

I had mine done during my last c-section and I swore up and down I was done bc I did not think I could be a good mom to any more and our finances were making things tough BUT now things are getting better and my husband is making more money and we could handle and would love to have another:( I am really sad that my daughter will never have a sister…I don’t know what I would do if I did not have mine. DD has started calling her friends her sisters…breaks my heart!

I was so certain when I had it done so my advice is to have your husband snipped…its easier to undo.

Also…I have painful cysts that I NEVER had before…one made me think I had apendicitis! My periods also now drag on for days which is all new too…can’t wait for my next pap:)

By 2007 American children were being told by government health officials and pediatricians to get 48 doses of 14 vaccines by age six and 53-56 doses of 15 or 16 vaccines by age 12. In May 2007, CNN Money reported predictions that vaccine industry sales will more than double by 2010.
